Definition of Grievances
A grievance can be defined as any sort of discontent or dissatisfaction, with any aspect of the organization, which needs to be rectified, in order to facilitate alleviation of an issue or smooth functioning of a particular process. It can be real or imaginary, legitimate or otherwise, written or verbal. It must however, find expression in some form of the other.
When a complaint remains unattended to and the team member concerned feels a sense of lack of justice or fair play, the dissatisfaction grows and assumes the status of grievance.
At times, grievances relate to problems of interpretation of perceived nonfulfillment of one’s expectation from Ample.
Objective of this policy
The grievance redressal cell endeavors to provide a forum for Ample’s team members to express their dissatisfaction at an early stage for early resolution.
Range & types of grievances
A grievance can be of any type ranging from problems regarding promotion to discharge and dismissal, but it is mandatory that the grievance should be work-related and not personal.
Grievances also may arise because of intra-personal problems of individual team member. The absence of proper two-way flow of communication can indeed be a fertile ground for breeding grievances.
Grievances typically fall under, but are not restricted to, the following categories:
• Work Environment: Working conditions, safety of the environment, hygiene related issues, equipment, etc.
• Compensation related issues
• Pending unsanctioned Leaves
• Unfair Debits, overdue or delayed payments (Incentives / QOP, reimbursements, etc.)
• Work Group: Strained peer relations. Feelings of neglect, obstruction or victimisation.
• Uncalled for or unfair disciplinary action
• Individual’s emergencies that have been informed, but have not being heard or understood
• Supervision: Disposition of a manager or supervisor towards the team member. Perceived notions of favoritism, bias etc.
• Nature of work
• Lack of growth or promotions. Need for a transfer or need for refusal of a transfer
The above list is indicative and not comprehensive.
Effects of Grievances
Grievances can have several effects, which are essentially adverse and counterproductive to Ample’s and the department’s goals.
Procedure for expressing grievances
The aggrieved team member sends a mail to the email address grievance.cell@ample.co.in regarding any grievance that he / she wants resolved.
In order to protect the identity of the individual and confidentiality of the specific information contained in the mail, only the HR Head and the Company Head will have access to the mails received.
Once the grievance has been expressed, the team member can expect a response from the HR Head regarding the possibility of resolution of the complaint expressed or clarification if the resolution is not possible for valid reasons.
