A good image is an essential ingredient to Ample’s success and growth. Impeccable turnout is one of the means of achieving a Good Image. It is therefore important, that every team member is correct in terms of dress code and ensures that their own personal hygiene & grooming is of the highest standard.
The `How’ Of Hygiene & Grooming
- Clean, pressed clothes.
- Long hair must be clean and tied back off the face.
- Simple Jewellery.
- Clean, enclosed, flat and shiny shoes.
- Make up kept to a minimum
- Deodorant is a must.
Hygiene & Grooming For Retail Professionals
Use of pleasant deodorants, investing in good shaving accessories, nail cutters, smart pair of shoes, formal belts, multiple pairs of socks, clean uniforms, etc are not luxuries, but necessities.
With the Ample vision of ‘Delighting the Customer’, it is imperative that we follow good grooming standards. There is no substitute for this. It is important to go through some of the standards that have to be practiced everyday. When we are well groomed, our confidence levels increase, we feel good and when this happens it shows in our attitudes towards life and others.
Body Odour
- This is a constant turn off for customers and colleagues! The causes for this could be poor hygiene, eating too much of garlic / onions etc.
- Please use a pleasant smelling deodorant that will last all day. Just having a bath with soap and water does not suffice in our country, which is hot and humid.
- Those who cannot use deodorants because of sensitive skin, please walk into a store that sells naturally made products and buy one that suits you.
- Change your socks everyday. Smelly socks mean a smelly you. Invest in multiple pairs of socks.
Bad Breath
- This is a total turnoff. It is mandatory to brush teeth for at least two minutes. Just putting some toothpaste in your mouth does not suffice.
- Brush your teeth twice a day, once in the morning and once before retiring to bed. It takes 4 minutes of your time.
- Very important is to clean your tongue – this is where a lot of germs reside.
- Some of us suffer from Halitosis, a condition where despite brushing well the bad breath persists. Please schedule a urgent visit to a good dentist who will help you with the problem.
- Smokers need to pay more attention. Use a strong smelling gum or better still, stop smoking.
- Check your breath during the day. Hold your palm close to your nose, breath into it , inhale, and if your breath smells bad, take action!
Dress
Men and Women
- See that your uniforms are clean and well pressed. Please launder them everyday. No stains on your T-shirts.
- Change your inner wear everyday – this is a must or else it will lead to body odour. Please invest in multiple inner wear.
- Men – please match your socks with your trouser. White shirt does not mean that you wear white socks! Please wear either dark grey / dark blue socks with black well polished shoes.
- Women, please wear comfortable heels on the floor. Remember, a good posture is also important.
Hair and Makeup
Men, please see that your hair is well groomed – cut above the nape, and your sideburns do not go below the mid ear. Long sideburns certainly look good on a Rock star but not on a Professional!
Women, with hair below your shoulder, should secure at the nape of the neck with a clip or a band. Women must wear light eye make up to brighten up your eyes. Apply Kajal or khol on your lower lid and a eyeliner on your upper lid. Invest in good quality ones so that they do not run during the course of the day. Apply a lipstick that matches with your skin tone, nothing too loud. Touch up on your make up at least once in the evening.
Men and women – no hair should keep falling into your eyes. For men, nails to be well clipped, kept short and women who have long nails, must wear a light colored nail polish.
